GAY MARRIAGE CELEBRANT

Gay / Same Sex Marriage

Ever since the Same-sex Marriage Bill was passed by the Australian Parliament in December 2017 it has been my great pleasure to officiate at numerous Same-sex Marriage ceremonies.

Love is love no mater what and it was a wonderful moment in our Nation’s history to know that over 60% of Australians voted for those in Same-sex relationships be allowed to enjoy all the same rights as a heterosexual couple.

It has been my absolute privilege to listen to the journeys of the couples that I have married. At times, they have endured prejudice, even from within their own families, so to arrive at their wedding day and to stand before their nearest and dearest declaring their love with confidence and freedom creates a healing and understanding like no other act.

I can remember one couple saying to me that they had, for years and years, attended the weddings of their brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and their own children all the while yearning to be able to honour their own relationship with each other in the exact same way. At last, their dream came true in January 2019. We stood in a beautiful, rose-filled garden on a warm summer’s evening with all those brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and children taking on various supporting roles in their marriage ceremony. Perfect.

The very nature of ritual has the power to connect and to move energy from a place of embedded thinking to something new and creative. A civil ceremony, apart from the compulsory wording necessary to legalise a marriage, can be whatever you wish it to be and located wherever you want it to take place. Freedom abounds in the choices you can make to ensure that your ritual is an absolute expression of your relationship and your personalities.

It has been my privilege to officiate Same Sex Marriages all over Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills and throughout South Australia.

I look forward to getting to know you both, guiding you through the legal requirements involved in getting married and providing as much time and space as you need to explore ideas to create a unique and memorable ceremony that is a true reflection of who you are.
